“Cedar View” - Healthcare facility for senior living

In this project we wanted to emphasize the idea of growing in place. CCRC’s typically have a neg­ative connotation associated with them, but our project showed how this is not the end of their journey, but rather the beginning of a new one. Our facility provides multiple ways for the residents to continue growing throughout their life. One way we facilitated this was through resident led programs. These provided not only a sense of community, but also responsibility and purpose. The amenities helped emphasize the idea that our residents are here for a reason, and contribute to the greater good of the com­munity. We incorporated wood accents, mut­ed colors, and natural light to instill a sense of comfort and familiarity. The space emulates the design principles of balance and repetition. These principles enforce the intended feeling of our space.
